Renovation of the Cruise Terminal

The Cruise Terminal in Rotterdam is the former departures hall of the Holland America Line. The building dates from 1949 and has become industrial heritage.

De building is marked by six arches. Behind one of these arches is a restaurant and the other five arches accommodate a event hall, which is also used as arrival and departure of cruise ships. The municipality Rotterdam wants to further exploit the striking location and appearance of the building for cruise ships now regularly calling at Rotterdam.

For the events hall, where corporate and dance festivals are held, structural alterations have to be done to improve the indoor facilities to the noise environment limit. The Development company of Rotterdam (OBR) has asked us for the abilities of upper level to judge the quality of existing design information. In addition, a study out the possibility of additional mass on the roofs to make serving the noise.
